When you get a drink of water at home, where do you get your water from? Do you have a drinking fountain? Do you only drink bottled water? Some people may really only drink bottled water but I would be willing to bet that most people get their drinking water from the sink. Is the water from the sink clean? If it wasn't we wouldn't drink it. I am trying to prove a point here so please have a little patience.
Now when you go to work, where do you get your drinking water from? Most people get it from a drinking fountain. Why don't people have drinking fountains in their home? Probably because they are too expensive. What are the benefits of a drinking fountain? I think that the water is probably colder and you don't need a glass.
So why am I talking about drinking water? Have you ever gone to get a drink at work at the drinking fountain and had to wait a half hour for some other employee to fill up their 64 oz. water bottle? If you have never experienced this let me share a real life example that occurs almost each day.
At about 10 AM each day I take a 15 minute brake. I go over to the drinking fountain to get a drink and wouldn't you know it here comes another person from the other end of the hall. They beat me to the drinking fountain and instead of getting a drink they pull out this huge water bottle and proceed to fill up the entire bottle. All I want is a couple of swallows of water so I stand there for a large portion of my break waiting for somebody to fill up a water bottle. Normally after the water bottle is almost full the person turns around and says, "Oh I'm sorry I'm taking so long" to the line of people waiting for a drink. Somehow they didn't realize that it takes a looong time to fill up a water pitcher from a slow running stream of water. Another example is when I was in college and I would have to walk a long way to class then up 3 floors of stairs and be almost later for class. I would always need a drink but there was always some person filling up their year supply of water at the drinking fountain.

Do these water bottle people know how annoying they are? At first I talked about the difference between tap water and drinking fountain water. As far as I know it all comes from the same source. The only difference being that the drinking fountain water might be a little bit colder. That shouldn't matter one bit since these water bottle people just leave the bottle on their desk the rest of the day. Why don't these people go and fill up their water bottles at a sink? Almost every work place has a break room with a sink. It would fill their bottle up a lot faster and they wouldn't be holding everybody up. Besides, a drinking fountain is for drinking! If there was a "water bottle filling up fountain" then they could use that. Then they could all gripe when I would use it to get a drink.
