Got to love roommates. In this little message I am about to share, I don't think it is possible to really describe my experience in words here. I will do my best to share this experience with you.
My apartment was a mess when I moved in on the 13th of August. I cleaned for a long time yesterday and now I think the place is just reaching the dirty level where my mother would go crazy because it is so dirty. It is nice to have the place a lot cleaner now. I could have waited for my roommates to clean the place, but I could not handle waiting a week for that day to come. Cleaning checks are coming up here soon and so the rest of the place should get a good cleaning in a few days.
All I really did was clean the kitchen because that was what grossed me out the most. I did vacuum the floors and I sprayed the bathtub with bleach to get some of the black off, but of all things I could not handle it was the kitchen. How can I describe this kitchen to you? Have you ever had a good whiff of sewage? If not just think of something real bad and imagine a crock pot of old stew and imagine that bad smell coming out of the crock pot when taking off the lid. The crock pot was full of water and stew. Someone had put water in it so that it could be washed. My favorite part was the rotting potatoes sort of floating in some mushy decomposing state. The kitchen was dirty enough where I don't think anyone was willing to even attempt to clean the thing. If I were to guess, I think I would say that the counters were not been cleaned for months.
When I moved in and I met my roommate Jason, he told me how things sort of worked around the place. He told me that they usually don't cook food there and they usually eat out. Am I not surprised. I was planning to eat out until that kitchen was cleaned. I would imagine that death would have been a menu choice if anyone would have tried cooking anything in that kitchen.
I honestly cleaned the kitchen for 2 hours. One of my roommates must like bacon because there were frying pans full of bacon grease. Does one of my roommates only eat bacon when he cooks anything at the place? I don't know why there were so many pans with large amounts of grease in them and I am not going to ask. I am going to try to avoid roommate conflicts and I am not going to tell them right off that are dirty slobs.
I really do like my new place other than the initial mess. Maybe if I keep the place somewhat clean people will make return visits instead of being turned away after an initial visit.
