Sirens, confusion, fire trucks, ambulances, cops, three cars, and many ongoing spectators is what this story is about. I hope to not sound like I am in search of pity with what I say here.
A young man, named Steve, was driving home from work one day, and the traffic was a little worse than normal. He was hungry tired and was just driving home like he did every day on a regular basis.
The only problem today was that he thought traffic was going with a green light, but in reality it was red and traffic was slowing down. As Steve looked over at traffic, looked down at his seat to look for a piece of paper and then as he looked up to get in the turn lane he noticed that the car in front of him was almost at a complete stop.
Steve hit his brakes and almost came to a complete stop before running into the car in front of him.
As his car hit the other persons car, Steve's life flashed in front of his eyes. He knew that he was alright, but he realize he might as well be dead, and should just continue his state of poverty for a much longer time.
Steve sat there hitting his head against his steering wheel with tears in his eyes because he realized that he was not fully insured and was an idiot for ever letting his insurance expire. He had the opportunity to get back on full coverage, but as mentioned earlier, he realized he was an idiot.
A few weeks earlier Steve opened his mail. He had moved a couple times recently and all his mail was going all over the place to different locations. On one specific day when some forwarded mail finally got to him, he opened a envelope that said that his insurance was cancelled. After that envelope he opened another that stated that his insurance was going to be cancelled. He was grateful that the notice came in time to get it renewed.
So as the story continues, after opening the mail he tried once or twice to get the insurance back on his car. He failed because he could never get in contact with his insurance broker. He was not too worried about being uninsured for a week or so because he had never been in a traffic accident. He also felt like it was a waste of money paying insurance each year for something he never expected to use and was not too worried about anything. He expected to be insured again soon, but this did not quite happen in time.
So this Steve sat in his car hitting his head against his steering wheel. He was devastated that he had probably lost a whole lot of money because of this accident. Others thought he was hurt and they called 911.
Soon ambulances, fire trucks, cops, and many spectators were looking at Steve and the people he hit on University Avenue in Provo UT. As you could possibly imagine, Steve was not the happiest person at this moment in time.
So as for the damages that took place, when he hit one car that car hit another car. The car that Steve hit was not damaged that much at all. The bumper was only scratched up. It drove away with no problems at all. But Steve's car decided to bend and basically fall apart. The frame was bent the hood was buckled and a bunch of liquids came out all over the road.
So the point of this story is to be happy to have insurance even though you think you will never use it. If you don't have insurance you may end up living in poverty for the rest of your life.
