3 Strikes You'r Out

Why cant employment be more like baseball? Ok, maybe that would not be the best idea, but at least go with the idea of giving some strikes before giving an out. I feel this way because the other day at work, I got an out before any strikes and I had no idea that it was coming. My boss had something against me and therefore he found a way to get rid of me and he fired me.

I was on a phone call and Jenny, one of the Technical Advisors on the floor, came up to me and said that Joe needs to talk to me and that she would be taking over my phone call. I just looked at her like she was sort of crazy, but I said ok and I explained to the customer that I would put them on hold and that someone else would finish the call. I walked back to Casperson’s old office and Hema from HR was there.

I sat down and the first thing they said was, "We are terminating our relationship between you and NuSkin as of right now. May I have your ID Badge?" I said ok, and handed them my badge and then I asked why I was fired. Joe just sat there with sort of a smile and just said that I did not do what they asked me to do. And that I was doing call avoidance. So without warning and no idea that this was going to happen, I was fired.

I thought that at least a warning should have been part of the plan. I think that Joe and I just were not best friends and I think I know the day that made him want to fire me. No, it really was not being on out for a long time. It was mostly from not getting on the phones during chat when I did not see that the queue was high. That is the only thing he ever got mad at me about.

So because I did not notice the queue several times and one time I clicked on the show desktop icon and he came over and saw that my dial pad was not up, that shows us the queue, he got mad at me. I told him I was sorry and he would not listen to me. And about a half hour later he got after me again on that same day and he said again why are you on chat still there is a queue, and I sort of said sarcastically... "sorry, but I am going to training”, and just walked away. So I think that was the day that he decided to fire me. That was about 5 or 6 days before I was let go.

I think Joe is an idiot and got me fired over a stupid thing. Over chat and working on those projects that I was trying to build to show some people my ideas. May Big Planet go down the drain for having managers like Joe.

I am just unhappy about how things turned out. I am ok, but not happy at all about it. I don't agree with some things, and I the only thing I could try and do is clear up my name and explain to HR what happened and my opinion. But what is done is done, and I am just at the end of the pole with no word or say.

I talked to my old supervisor the day after I was fired and I asked him

BigFatLazyGuy: Did you just learn about it today, or did you know it was coming?
BigFatLazyGuy: It doesn't matter, I am just curious.
bmonroe121: I knew it was coming, I was trying not to promote it
BigFatLazyGuy: Thanks.
bmonroe121: from my perspective, I thought it a bit harsh, but I am a lot more lenient than Joe
BigFatLazyGuy: I just think he should have done at least 1 one on one and maybe talked to me ever about anything.
BigFatLazyGuy: but that is Joes way of doing things I guess.
BigFatLazyGuy: Oh well.
bmonroe121: I think all the TLs could do better that way
bmonroe121: for sure
BigFatLazyGuy: Now that I think about it, it is sort of funny how I did not realize that I was not scheduled to work yesterday and I went in. When Joe came over and talked to me and I was heading home because I was not scheduled, he was sort of in a bad mood and rude to me.
BigFatLazyGuy: Now I understand why he didn't take any effort to be nice to me.
bmonroe121: he isn't the best at people skills
BigFatLazyGuy: :-)
BigFatLazyGuy: I can say that now that he is not my supervisor. :-)
BigFatLazyGuy: And just one final thing about Joe. It is just funny how when Joe became a TL I talked to him about what he did to become a TL. I recall him telling me that he had to do things that made him look bad in ways to make him look good in other ways. And I get in trouble and fired by him about trying to do other things at work to try and get off the phones.

So in my opinion of all this I think it is crazy that a company will get mad at someone that is trying to do things for the company instead of doing things for myself to draw myself away from the company.

When I was fired, Big Planet took no time to shut off my accounts. When others quit their accounts are not shut off. I really think Joe was out to get me. As you can see in one of my stories the other day, this decision was not performance based. If it was, Joe lied to me and also he never showed me my stats.

I was fired because of not doing exactly what I was hired to do. I think people like Joe should be held to the same standards. As a manager he was not responsible and did not do what he was asked to do. He was not a leader, he never gave me feedback to help me become better, and he made me believe that I was doing everything ok except for not jumping on chat when he said things like how I was going to get certified for a higher pay which they call Grade 10.

I never saw stats compared to mine. I think this is a discrimination against me. I think I should have been given a warning like others receive. I think that he did not follow proper procedure in terminating me from employment. He did not follow proper channels. He never did give interviews.

Oh well. I will survive.
