Ender's Game

Last night I almost finished reading the book Enders Game for the third time. I love books where you become part of the book and you feel that the characters in the book are you in many ways.

This morning I went to bed just after 5 am this and I woke up terrified. I woke up terrified more than once. I kept dreaming that I was Ender and that someone was in the room watching me and getting ready to attack me.

After sleeping for a little while I would wake up each time and I would realize that it was just a dream, but my body would still be pumping adrenalin. When I woke up the first time, I could feel my body shaking because my blood was pumping so hard. I was so alert and ready to fight back that I don’t think that anyone could have put up a good fight.

When I fell asleep again, I was dreaming that someone was going to get me through my window. I waited there in my dream on my bed until they positioned themselves just right. I attacked. This battle was going to end here and now. In a moments notice I gave the guy in the window an uppercut that he would not forget.

One thing about Ender, in the book I was reading, when he was picked on and got in a fight, he fought smart and waited till the perfect moment to defend himself to stop all future confrontations by ending all future wars with the battle at hand. This is how I imagined myself fighting this person.

I am glad that I chose and uppercut instead of a punch in my dream. I say this because I actually attacked the person coming through my window. I was vicious with my attack. Of course no one was there, but I sure did a number on my blinds. I am glad that I did an uppercut not punch out because I am sure that I would have put my hand through the window with the force that I punched my blinds.

My roommate is a light sleeper as it is. When I hit those metal blinds it was loud, loud enough that it woke one of the guys in my apartment that is in another room. My roommate probably thinks I am crazy now, and he is probably right. When I hit the blinds he was wide awake and was just staring at me and the thrashed blinds.

After I woke up, I sat there looking at my blinds. My hand took a beating. I ripped off a good portion of my middle fingernail and I got some cuts on my hand.

Like I said, I love getting into a good story, but I think I need to be careful with how involved I get into books in the future.
