Underwater Magic
A couple people I knew went to a magic show. This was no ordinary magic show, some amazing things going on. Some things I saw could not be explained. It was held in a large stadium, like a football stadium, underwater. Thousands of people were there watching this event.
Many different things were going on at this event. One of the more interesting things that caught my attention was the ice skaters doing dances and doing some amazing flips and spins. I really enjoyed the ice skaters because of the amazing abnormal things they were doing. I sat there and watched them do their intricate footwork and land some amazing leaps. I figured that they were able to do some of these things because of the water that they were surrounded them. Nobody was wet, but it seemed as though they were all submerged in water.
On the main stage between performances, there was a host who would sing songs and talk to the audience and try to keep everyone’s attention. At one point in the magic show, he was signing a song on the stage by himself. At one point in the song, he did not like how it was sounding, so he asked the sound tech guys change how it sounded with more of an echo effect.
Something was not right. Some of the things taking place were too amazing to be just illusions and tricks. This had to be some sort of real magic. The ice skaters were going too fast for being in the water. The water would have been too much resistance for them to be going the speeds that they were going at. And the fact that they were underwater and breathing was too much for me. How were they breathing was the question running through my mind. The idea I came up with was that they had tubes going in their chests to put oxygen in their lungs.
Jeff and I got into a fight during this event over some electronic device like a Palm Pilot. In my anger towards him and for my thinking that what he was doing was stupid, I slapped him in the face. Jeff did not respond to me as I expected. He came back with a serious uppercut and he hit me real hard in the face. It hurt but it did not take me out.
Jeff was pulled away and he had to go do something so we separated for a time. While he was gone I plotted my revenge. I did not plot my revenge for when I would see him next, I was going to take him out at some future date. I was going to exercise and get stronger so when he thought he could punch me again, he would be sorry he ever tried.
When Jeff came back we were still watching this underwater magic show and everyone was listening to the host singing on stage.
The host wanted the audience to participate in his singing. He yelled in the microphone for people to sing with him during the song. Soon after the performer got up and started singing the lyrics, “…deep down south yonder, get away get away get away get away”, he asked all of the audience to sing. Part way in the song he wanted more of an echo effect so they changed the sound system to add more echo.
Then along with the audience singing with him, he wanted people to come up on stage with him to sing. Jeff and I were called up on the stage with Ben Risenmay. The only lyrics of this fifties song that we could come up with were the words, “deep down south yonder, get away get away get away get away”. We were having a real hard time singing the song. Luckily we saw grandpa Risenmay on the stage and we sort of worked our way over next to him and we followed his lead in the song since he knew all the words by heart.
We sang until there was a knock at the door. My jerk land lady knocked on our apartment door and woke me up. I am also ticked that I can’t remember exactly what Jeff and I were fighting about.
Steve’s Analysis
Sometimes I pull random ideas from random parts of my life to make dreams. Sometimes the most insignificant things like Ben Risenmay showing up in my dream are just odd to me. I was at my grandparent’s house with my dad and brothers and while in their house I looked at a picture display in the home and I saw his mission picture there and I thought of him for about a second.
I think that my grandpa was in my dream because the music that was playing, I just imagined that the oldies music playing was the type of music that he would listen to. So I probably just thought about who would know the lyrics to that music, and the first to come to mind was my grandpa.
Now Jeff and I fighting probably goes back to childhood memories of male dominance. When we were younger, Jeff and I had some serious battles and arguments. I do think about how I acted and behaved at times and I wish that things were not the way they were. Also, I always think about how I am going to work out and get into shape, so the fact that I tell myself that I am going to workout and be more physically fit is something that I have been facing over the last few years.
Now the underwater magic comes from some fantasy books that I read when I was in the 5th grade. I read some books by Piers Anthony and in one of the books there was a sorceress who had the magic ability to create illusions. One of her illusions she performed for the kings birthday was an underwater party. Everyone felt like they were underwater, but they breathed the illusion as they normally would do with air.
