What do I do with my free time at work. Am I productive? Do I do as Nu Skin would want me to do? The answers to this question may be answered in the following paragraphs.
So you read the title of Marc Morgan for Mayor and you probably have some mixed ideas about what I am about to share. Let me start with some background information to help you understand the story better.
Marc currently works for Nu Skin in the technical support department. He has been working here longer than the two years that I have been working here. I have sort of known Marc for these two years, but only as of this summer have we really known each other well. This summer we began to know each other because during my "I am going to exercise" phase that I go through occasionally, I would run by his house everyday. Marc told me one day that he saw me running and he told me I was crazy. He said I was crazy because I would run by his house during the hottest part of the day during summer.
So from that point in time Marc would heckle me from his chair outside his home, and at work he would talk to me and tell people that I am crazy for running. So for a few months we talked to each other and I got to know him better especially when I was passing him in my car one day and he was pushing an old beat up car that he purchased for $50. I stopped and helped push the car to his driveway and talked to him and an old man and another guy who does basically nothing for a living.
And as of about a month ago now I was moved out of my little hiding place at Big Planet where I sat away from everyone except another friend of mine, Allan Crow. I have come to know Marc much better now. Now Marc and I sit near each other because our assigned seats are across from each other.
Now that we have a little background story going, I think this is a good place to start into the Marc Morgan for Mayor story.
At work two weeks ago, I was at my desk on chat doing nothing. I was bored and I noticed a new recognition board that was put up on the wall that was going to display the employee of the month. This is another plan that management has that is supposed to help us get excited and want to do a good job at technical support. As you can tell I am taking it very seriously. There were just question marks in the spots in this new display board where the pictures were going to go. I thought it would be funny if I took Marcs employee picture and blow it up and placed it in the question mark box. I put Marc's picture in the display with the caption of "Who will be next".
The picture stayed up for a while until Ashley Pixon took it down because that recognition board is not supposed to be a joke. So I printed off a couple copies of the picture and gave one to my supervisor, Brook Monroe, and he thought it was funny and put the new printout back in the recognition board.
Because I printed off several pictures of Marc, Vegor (a.k.a. Christen Peterson) saw one and he wrote a caption on the picture hung it in his cubicle with the caption of "Have you hugged your Marc today?".
To further on the Marc theme that was taking place, I printed off a new picture of Marc. I took Marc's 2 X 3 inch employee picture and blew it up into a 12 page mural of him and taped it into my cubicle. I just thought this would be something funny and original to make others laugh.
Here is the pic

The next day I worked the graveyard shift. I did not go to sleep that night. By morning I was tired and going delirious. I was going on over 30 hours with no sleep. I told someone that I would work for them on the graveyard shift. Working the graveyard shift was not that bad. The bad part was when I had to work my 7am to noon shift when I was going over 30 hours of no sleep. In the morning when my friend Vegor came in he was trying to make me laugh because of my delirious state. I was so tired and almost anything became funny to me. On some of my calls I would just be laughing when a call came in because of something that Vegor would say.
Vegor and I were talking and were trying to think of something else to do with Marc's picture that I have hanging in my cubicle, and I came up with a joke that we should run Marc for Mayor since Provo's mayor election was going to happen soon. Vegor thought it was funny and he immediately started writing the web page that you can go to below.
This web page became a hit at Technical Support in just a day. When I came into work the next Monday I furthered the Marc for Mayor activities further with printing out paper pins that say Marc for Mayor.

Because of al this and people wearing the badges and with the website up and going, people were commenting on it. As this campaign spread, a Critical Communication a.k.a. Crit Comm was posted and you can see what it said below.

10/2/2001 - Tri-Div Publishing Error: infrFailCode
Have you ever run into this error: infrFailCode when publishing a new Business Center? It is most likely to happen when there is no portal on the account or if we're unable to process their credit card. Try a different credit card if you can. If you're still having trouble, take all of their info, including credit card information to a TA/TL. Thanks!
This crit comm brought to you by the Marc For Mayor Coalition

These crit comms are just messages we post on our internal support pages to help get critical info out to all the employees.
Because of all this I am now well know at Nu Skin. Now I am going to try to do something that will get me recognized again, but this time it will be because I have done something serious this time.
This Marc for mayor campaign is not over. My supervisor and I are working on a new project now and we are going to make shirts for our team. I just came up with the graphics at work today and Brook is going to look into making shirts with these graphics.
It is too late now to vote Marc for Mayor this time, but remember next time you can vote, Vote for Marc for whatever position that is available. Maybe we will run him for President next time.
Let us all join together in this campaign.
